BALCONES JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY:  The Academy is for high performance players who want to take their High School Varsity careers and collegiate aspirations to the next level.  To be your best, in any walk of life, you need to develop championship habits.  Our team of experienced USPTA certified professionals combined with a systematic approach to increasing player performance aims to give the player the tools to reach their unlocked potential.  Developing championship habits is a choice, and nobody can make the choice other than yourself, it our job to show you the techniques to make your dreams a reality.  The Academy focuses on 3 key components, advanced stroke production, match play and physical fitness, all of which are complimented with video analysis.
Stroke production entails everything from the proper grips, stances, swing path and even shot selection of the player.  A players poor shot selection typically has more to do with a stroke production issue than an incorrect choice of shot or target location.  In Stroke Production Video Analysis, the professional and player will work in coordination to understand how the players mental translation of what is going on throughout the progression of the shot matches what the video captures.  The eye in the sky doesn't lie! It is extremely beneficial for the player to understand the reality of what they are doing throughout the entirety of the swing to make sustainable improvements.
In Match Play Video Analysis, the professional's goal is to clearly identify both positives and negatives throughout the match.  These sessions are designed to be interactive in real time.  Could you have taken the ball earlier?  Was there another option in this situation?  Did you play too aggressively?  Were you aggressive enough on this ball?  Would this have been an appropriate defensive situation?  These are the types of questions to be answered while actively learning about your game in this format.
Fitness is at the forefront of modern competitive tennis.  Endurance is only one of the many factors that are enhanced with proper physical fitness and nutrition.  Stroke production, defensive skills, perseverance, injury prevention, sleep, stress reduction, the list is endless.  If you are not committed to your personal fitness, then you are not committed to the sport.
Balcones Junior Academy is all about championship habits.  Our team is designed to assist every player in the pursuit of their goals.  Two of the most common attributes of successful people are toughness and energy.  We plan to give you both through our comprehensive high-performance approach at Balcones
